In 1865, approximately 70 percent of the iron used by the Confederacy was produced in Alabama. Mr. Czekanski will explore the rise of the iron industry in Alabama, the current historic sites associated with production, and the efforts of the Union Army to stem the flow of iron to the Confederacy.
Retired museum curator Tom Czekanski is enjoying his time in Baldwin County and his association with the other members of the Fairhope Universal Unitarian Fellowship. He enjoys sharing his interpretations of history with the Fellowship.
